Internship Lessons and Dreams Realized

[This blog was submitted by the Summer/Fall 2010 Writing Intern Rebecca McFarland.]

When I began my internship at Clay Bridges Publishing, I expected to learn about the process of getting a book published—from start to finish. While I learned about the process, I took away something much greater than just an understanding of how the company works. I gained insight into myself, and an unshakable truth. If something is meant to be, it will come to be—one way or another.

I swore I’d never enter Troy, Ohio again after the experiences I had with the local Christian high school. I’d all but given up on my dream of becoming a published author after being told it was a childish goal. On top of that I’d decided to suppress my unanswered questions about religion and had walked away from going to church.

Now look where I am. I’m a part of the Clay Bridges Publishing family (located in Troy—ironically with some threads connecting them to the same school I veered away from). I’m going to be a published writer, the co-author (with Dr. David Bone) of Fear Comes Quickly, due out this spring.

Thanks to my Clay Bridges family and the expression of God’s love through them, I’ve gone back to sorting out those unanswered questions and am looking for a church.

It leaves me in joyous awe of God’s providence to see that even when I thought I’d gotten far away from where I’d hoped to go, I still ended up being exactly where He wanted me to be.
